About the Foundation

The Aubrey Rose Foundation was founded in memory of our angel, Aubrey Rose. Aubrey was always a very happy baby throughout everything she endured and she smiled continuously. In honor, her foundation provides support and help for those who seek to be lifted from the complexities of life here on earth and to find a greater happiness in those things that could be. Aubrey brought a great light into our lives. Help us pass that light along.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help families caring for children with life threatening illnesses with our focus being on the family unity.  We strive to lift families from life's complexities during this difficult time by providing emotional and financial support.

The Aubrey Rose Foundation will be honoring Aubrey's life by:

Awarding educational scholarships for children so that they can better themselves. In Aubrey's three short years, she made a positive impact on many people. These scholarships will be based on how children have made an impact on the people around them.

Helping families with financial need because of medical expenses of their children.

Organizing buying toys and holiday parties to brighten the lives of sick children at our local Children's Hospital.

Promoting educational awareness about the need for organ donations.

Organizing dinners for the Ronald McDonald House families to boost these families' spirits so they can carry on taking care of their sick child.

Hosting a summer themed picnic for the heart transplant patients and their immediate family members along with the staff of the Heart Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. This is for the patient and their families to start a network of friends in the unique world they live in because of the transplant.

Healing the Worlds Hearts Program - This was developed by Aubrey's Foundation with help from Cincinnati Children's Hospital doctors, surgeons and corporate support to provide "simple" heart procedures to sick children in the U.S. and developing countries around the world. We say "simple" heart procedures because these are surgeries which can be performed in the U.S. that can SAVE A CHILD'S LIFE letting them go back home to live a healthy and productive life without follow-up cardiac procedures.

Our Philosophy

To provide a balanced giving program that will put huge smiles on the faces of children and their families.

Foundation Accomplishments

We have awarded 124 educational scholarships for children so that they can better themselves and are on target for giving out an additional 25 scholarships each year for many years to come.

We have helped 78 families to date for a total of $103,000 in financial grants excluding our Healing the World's Hearts patients which is another $100,000.  The amount of our grants are growing in proportion to the monies coming in to Aubrey's Foundation. We are pleased to say that we are able to help more families with bigger amounts than we've been able to in the past.  This total is strictly for grants to families and does not include our other programs.

Organizing 32 themed dinner parties complete with crafts for the children for the Ronald McDonald House families to boost these families spirits so they can carry on taking care of their sick child. We have touched close to 1600 families who have lived at Ronald McDonald House because of our dinner parties.

Hosted 7 Holiday Parties and organized buying toys and gifts to brighten the lives of sick children at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. These families will never forget this Holiday Party because we try to make this the most memorable event that will be able to stay with them forever.

Hosting the 6th annual Heart Transplant Picnic in the summer.  This themed picnic is for the heart transplant patients and their immediate family members along with the staff of the Heart Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. This is for the patient and their families to start a network of friends in the unique world they live in because of the transplant.

Supplied camping items for Camp Joyful Hearts. We gave each camper Aubrey Rose Foundation logo'd items that will help them with their week at camp, such as backpacks filled with an umbrella, rain poncho, flashlight, ball cap, camera, beach ball and beach towel.

Hosted the 6th annual Hopeful Hearts for Children themed picnic complete with decorations, crafts and dinner so that families of "Heart Kids" can start to build lasting relationships to help families cope.

Our "Aubrey's Angels" team for the Heart Mini Marathon for the American Heart Association has raised over $100,000 to help wipe out the #1 killer - heart disease and the #3 killer - strokes.

LifeCenter Organ Donor Network encourages and coordinates the donation of human organs and tissues for transplantation. LifeCenter works with 28 area hospitals to serve the people of the Greater Cincinnati area, including Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. The organization works in conjunction with U.S. Tissue and Cell, the Cincinnati Eye Bank, and the Midwest Ear Foundation. Jerry & Nancy Hollenkamp received the Paul Hackman Award which is the highest honor that LifeCenter bestows on volunteers. This was given because of their devotion to raising awareness of the need for organ donations. Read full newspaper article

Miracles for LifeŽ (MFL) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds to promote organ transplantation as one of the world's greatest medical achievements and recognize the individuals touched by organ transplantation. We celebrate donors and recipients, as well as organ donation advocates, medical professionals and volunteers, in particular, as heroes. We strive to make these organ donor heroes a focus in the public eye, raising organ donor awareness, thus increasing the consent rate. Aubrey's Foundation helps Miracles for Life by raising awareness and funds to promote organ donation. For their work, in 2004, Jerry & Nancy Hollenkamp received the "Hero Award" for their dedication and volunteerism and more importantly, Aubrey's sister and brother received scholarships for their high school tuition for their work with helping Miracles for Life and spreading the word of the importance of organ and tissue donation to young people.

In April of 2001, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson, an outspoken advocate of organ and tissue donation, launched the Workplace Partnership for Life program to raise awareness of the need for increased donation. This program focuses on engaging businesses, organizations and other places of employment to educate employees about the critical shortage of organs and tissues for transplantation. The Workplace Partnership for Life is truly a win-win campaign in which everyone can play a significant role in recruiting potential organ, tissue, marrow, and blood donors. The Aubrey Rose Foundation was one of the founding members for Ohio's Workplace Partnership for Life. Read More

In November of 2006, our first Healing the World's Hearts program patient had open-heart surgery.  Aubrey's Foundation was able to fund this entire operation with support from Dr. Peter Manning and the Heart Center staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  A beautiful three year old Russian girl named Elena had her surgery on a Monday and within two weeks was able to go back home and start to live a "normal"  life with a repaired heart. This operation saved her life and Aubrey's Foundation is hoping that we can continue to help many children from with the United States as well as children from around the world get a life-saving heart repair so that they too can enjoy a happy and especially healthy life!

In August, 2008, our 2nd Healing the World's Hearts program patient will be having open-heart surgery.  Hannah, a four year old from the Philippines will be operated on by Dr. Eghtesady at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  We're praying that Hannah's surgery will be much like Elena's above and she'll be able to sail through her recuperation time and be able to go back home to live a happy and healthy life!

We have budgeted $50,000 for each patient for the Healing the World's Hearts Program.
