Thank you to all of you for your love and continuing support of the Aubrey Rose Foundation!
Whenever I get down or frustrated with some little thing that goes wrong; when I'm distracted by some problem or another I think of Aubrey's approach to the real problems of her life. Whatever Aubrey did whether it was going to church or going to the doctors, it was a party to her. Somehow, even with her problems, she saw through it all to the party that life was to her. She truly loved life! With the Aubrey Rose Foundation, we strive to keep this enthusiasm going in whatever we do.
We welcome you to join us in the many opportunities for continued growth and happiness that Aubrey's Foundation offers. We welcome you to join us having fun growing her Foundation together so that we can continue to put smiles on the faces of many children and their families.
Sometimes in life it's easy to get wrapped up in the moment and not see the big picture. Through your involvement with the Foundation, whether it's volunteering your time, donating to our organization, making contacts for the Foundation or any other way that you can get involved, you are giving back and helping us help many children who have a life-threatening medical condition.
It's just a small way of thanking God for the gifts in your life that have been bestowed on you. Not everyone is so blessed! Just like going to the doctors or church for Aubrey was a party, getting involved with Aubrey's Foundation, will guarantee that we can put a smile on your face too!
Love to you and your family!

The Aubrey Rose Hollenkamp Foundation hosted a Scholarship Reception on June 10th at Aston Oaks Golf Course to honor 27 8th graders and their families, and to share with them the purposes and goals of the Foundation. They were from 15 different schools and will be attending 9 different Catholic High Schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Also at this dessert reception were the high school principals where the student will be going in the Fall and their 8th grade principals and teachers who participated in the selection process and who encouraged the students to participate in the scholarship process.
Countless scholarships are awarded every year to students for their success in academics and sports. It is rare that a scholarship is given to commend a student's kind-heartedness. We honor this attribute of kind-heartedness as a necessity, and it must be honored.
These $500 scholarships were given to the students at their graduation or awards ceremonies where parents and other students are invited. This is an extremely important piece of our scholarship presentation so that the parents are surprised along with the scholarship recipient to hear their name being recognized for having a kind-heart.
We would like to thank you Anthony
Buford and David Fulcher for your
kindness in coming to speak at our Scholarship Reception. You showed
so much class and spoke to our crowd of about 130 about the importance
of giving back, helping others and getting involved. And you both graciously
stayed around to mingle with the families, principals and teachers
and to be a part of the pictures. Thanks so much.
We would also like to thank Mike Evans for his talent that he so readily shares with Aubrey's Foundation by taking pictures at our different events. Aston Oaks did a beautiful display for our dessert reception and I don't think anyone left hungry!
This was a very special evening that included
the presentation of the Above and
Beyond
Award which was given to last year's scholarship recipient, Joel
Moses and his family. The involvement this family had
with Aubrey's Foundation went "above and beyond" and we rewarded
them a $1000 scholarship for Joel's sophomore year at Elder High School.

The weather was perfect and Aston Oaks was beautiful.
This was our largest golf outing yet and all foursomes were filled…with
a waiting list! Everyone had a great time
and we raised $20,000 for
the Aubrey Rose Foundation!
This event is very dear and close to our hometown soul. The Aubrey Rose Foundation uses the generous event contributions and great-hearted donations to fund families in need. It's 18 holes of golf that definitely gives back.
We're so thankful to all the sponsors and participants who made this event a great success.

Healing the World's Hearts - Hannah Update
We
continue to work with Delta Airlines and the Children's Miracle
Network
to set
a date for Hannah and her mom to arrive in Cincinnati for her open-heart
surgery. As you may remember we had to postpone her surgery because they
couldn't get passports on time. We had everything on hold until they
get their passports. That problem seems resolved and we're hoping her
air transportation and surgery can be re-scheduled for late July. Please
keep Hannah in your prayers.
She
will be the next child to benefit from our "Healing the World's
Hearts" program.
Hannah is a
beautiful
4 yr. old girl from the Philippines who is suffering from Tetralogy
of
Fallot (TOF), a cardiac anomaly that refers to a combination of four
related heart defects that commonly occur together. The four defects
include Pulmonary
stenosis, Ventricular septal defect / VSD, Overriding aorta, and Right
ventricular hypertrophy. TOF affects about 5 out of every 10,000
births.
It is very treatable and about 95% of babies are repaired within the
first year of life instead of the 4th year of life.
Hannah has suffered through years of not being able to run and play like a normal child because of low oxygen. This is the same defect that Carly, our oldest, was born with. She was repaired 20 years ago on February 11 and is doing very well but could eventually need a valve replacement. 10 years previous to Carly’s repair, TOF kids did die from that defect, but in this day and age, it’s unacceptable that Hannah would die from this defect. Thanks to everyone's help she will not! I know it is just one child we are helping but it’s one child’s life we are saving!!!
The "Healing the World's Hearts" program was developed by Aubrey's Foundation with help from Cincinnati Children's Hospital doctors, surgeons and corporate support to provide "simple" heart procedures to sick children in the U.S. and developing countries around the world. We say "simple" heart procedures because these are surgeries which can be performed in the U.S. that can SAVE A CHILD'S LIFE letting them go back home to live a healthy and productive life without follow-up cardiac procedures.
