Elena and Family Go Home

On Monday, December 4, just two weeks after surgery, Elena got permission to go home from her cardiologist.  This is amazing news.  Jennifer called to tell us the good news and to ask if we could get their flights changed.  The only non-stop flight left in the evening and so we were able to change their flight to leave that night.  Jennifer had a busy day of packing everything and cleaning their room, plus she wanted to say thank you and goodbye in person to Elena's surgeon, Dr. Peter Manning and to Joyce and Donna in his office who helped us arrange everything for Elena's surgery.

It was with great joy that we were able to drive them to the airport to say goodbye and go home but with sadness also.  It was joy because we are so happy and proud that our first patient with the Healing the World's Hearts program was going home because that meant that her surgery was a success.  It is with sadness because we will greatly miss Elena's parents, Jennifer and Pavel. We were truly blessed to have these two wonderful people come into our lives.  They are remarkable, appreciative, kind, giving and wonderful people and we wish them much health and happiness for their family.

We just heard from Jen in an email and she wanted to let us know that Elena had a cardiologist appointment and everything was great with her heart! Life is so good!!!

Scholarship Applications are available now

25 Scholarships are to be given out to 8th graders going on to Catholic High School education
We believe that humanity begins in children and their realization of how valuable their actions, words, or even a smile can be toward individual growth and to the everyday well being of the people surrounding them. In memory of Aubrey Rose Hollenkamp, we follow through our mission of carrying out the positive impact she had made on so many people by helping children and families who have also made a positive impact on the people around them.

Since 2001, we have organized a children's educational scholarship program in honor of Aubrey Rose.  Aubrey made such a difference in many people’s lives within her three short years here on this earth.  To honor her and her achievements, we base our scholarships on a childs’ kindness and willingness to give back to our community.  Our scholarships are for those students who have a compassionate heart unlike other scholarships that are based on academics or athletic ability.

How do you become a recipient of an Aubrey Rose Hollenkamp Scholarship? Scholarship applicants submit an essay and are judged by a panel consisting of the student's school staff members, Aubrey's Grandparents, George and Nancy Frondorf, Aubrey's parents, Jerry and Nancy Hollenkamp and Aubrey's sister and brother, Carly and Spencer.

For the year 2007, there will be 25, $500.00 scholarships awarded to 8th grade students who are going on to a Catholic High School in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. These outstanding students have made a difference in the lives of people around them.   Scholarship applications are due by Friday, January 26, 2007 to the Aubrey Rose Foundation to be considered for a scholarship.
