The Aubrey Rose Foundation's "Healing the World's Hearts" program is very proud that we are able to play an instrumental part in helping to save a child's life!  This has been our goal and dream since the start of this program.

This opportunity comes after years of arranging for the hospital, doctors, lawyers, interpreters, facilities and following many processes and procedures.

Our dream child is Elena Morozova.  She is a beautiful blue eyed three-year old girl.  Elena was born in Russia and has lived at the Borvochi Baby Home orphanage since birth.  In April of this year, she left the orphanage to live with the Cherkasov Family.  The family members include Dad (Pavel), Mom (Jennifer) and 4 1/2 year old Sasha.  Elena and her new family live in Vyschgorod, in the Narofamisk region of Russia.

Elena will be flown from her home in Russia to Cincinnati this November for open-heart surgery.  The operation will be performed by Dr. Peter Manning, Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Division at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and medical staff who have all donated their time to make this surgery possible.

Elena will probably be in the hospital for up to 2 weeks and will stay an additional 1 to 2 weeks at the Ronald McDonald House for recovery and follow-up care.  We anticipate they will return home before Christmas day so that they can enjoy the holidays with their family!

None of this is possible without the continued support of the volunteers and all of the people who help support the Aubrey Rose Foundation.

This story tells us if you can dream it, and believe in it, you will definitely achieve it!

Help us help Elena!

"Healing the World's Hearts" Program

Extraordinary progress in medical procedures has been led by scientific innovation over the past century. The pace of progress in science and technology has accelerated in recent years, particularly in the area of medical research. However, advances in health too often fail to reach those who need them most—children in the poorest countries or the ones without medical insurance in the United States. Two-thirds of deaths in children under age 5 stem from health problems that are preventable or treatable with existing tools.

The Aubrey Rose Foundation's "Healing the World's Hearts" program was established with the firm belief that all lives—no matter where they are lived—have equal value. Our global health mission is to help ensure that lifesaving advances in heart health are created and shared with those who need them most.

We have given a great deal of thought to the most effective ways to use the Foundation’s resources to make long-term improvements in global health. Our mission for this program is - if we can dream it and believe in it, we can definitely achieve it!!!

The challenges ahead are great, but Aubrey's Foundation is ready to take on this task even if it takes a lifetime.  Please dream with us, believe in us and all of us will achieve in the end.

Channel 9 News "Healthy Living" segment with Carol Williams

Channel 9 News followed Elena and her Dad on Friday, September 1 for her echocardiogram, meeting with her cardiologist, Dr. Linda Cripe, and also to meet with Dr. Peter Manning, Elena's Surgeon, both at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  They also followed us to Ronald McDonald House where Nancy got to show them around the House so they could see where they will be living at when Elena has her surgery and also for the recuperation time afterwards.

Please tune in to Channel 9 News on Monday, September 18, for Carol Williams "Healthy Living" segment where Carol will highlight Elena's story and the Aubrey Rose Foundation's "Healing the World's Hearts" program to the viewing public.  Channel 9 News will follow Elena through her surgery and stay in Cincinnati.

Blogs on our website

Please take the time to visit www.aubreyrose.org and check on our blogs on Elena and our Dance Wraparound Events.  This is a place to support and connect with families caring for seriously ill children.  Feel free to check the progress of Elena, post a comment to our different blogs and have a way to be connected to the people that Aubrey's Foundation supports and ones that support us.

THE ULTIMATE TRADE:
We have been inspired by the gentleman, Kyle MacDonald, who traded a big red paperclip for a house!  If this can happen with him, then we know that we can achieve our goal of changing a child's life through our Ultimate Trade!   Now is your chance to be a part of the greatest event in the Tri-State area and Nationally.  Instead of a big red paperclip, we will be starting our trades with a big diaper-pin!  Our goal is to trade each time for a higher valued item and the greatest last trade will be auctioned off at the Aubrey Rose Hollenkamp Foundation "Let's Dance for the Heart of It!" being held at the Newport Syndicate, November 10, 2006.  All of the proceeds will go towards helping Elena and bringing other children to Cincinnati Children's Hospital so that we can help save a child's life!!!  We are dreaming it, believing in it and we will definitely be achieving it!!!
